Aujourd’hui means “today” in French and refers to the current day. It’s one of the most common time expressions and is used to talk about events happening now or on the present day. For example: Aujourd’hui, je travaille à la maison. (Today, I’m working from home.)

IPA pronunciation of aujourd’hui is /o.ʒuʁ.dɥi/, which sounds approximately like “oh-zhoor-dwee”.
NOTE: Don’t pronounce au like the “aw” in awful. It should sound like “oh“: “oh-zhoor-dwee.

Aujourd’hui ultimately comes from the Latin hodie, meaning “today.” Over time, Old French hui (today) was combined with au jour de (on the day of), producing the modern form aujourd’hui, which literally means “on the day of today.”
