Example sentences

For this first sentence, savoir (to know) + infinitive means “to know how to do something”.

Je sais gérer mes affaires.

I know how to manage my business.

For this sentence, directeur can translate to director, manager or boss. La société is a faux ami (false cognate), meaning “company”. The French also use the feminine noun entreprise for company.

Le directeur gère bien la société.

The director manages the company well.

Gérant is the present participle of the verb gérer and means “manager”. The feminine form of manager is la gérante.

Je ne suis pas satisfait et je veux parler au gérant !

I’m not satisfied and I want to speak to the manager.
